The SLS is a very outdated Rocket, why did it launch?

The SLS, a great rocket that launched 16 November 2022, setting the Orion spacecraft
into a trajectory towards the moon, right now, Orion is orbiting the moon, but soon will go to a
path to reenter Earth's atmosphere, testing the Heat Sheild, and will splashdown on
December 11, 2022. The mission's name is Artemis I. Artemis I is an uncrewed mission
it's a test flight for the later Artemis missions, which will be crewed.

Why is the SLS rocket outdated?
The answer is quite simple and understandable, but NASA could had spent the money on a much
better mission.
Ares 1, the Constellation program, the Orion spacecraft.
NASA's Ares 1 rocket was the proposed rocket for Orion, meaning if the Constellation program
wasn't canceled, Artemis 1 wouldn't exist. And the mission that
Artemis is doing, it would have been done many years ago.
NASA's Ares 1 was canceled due to being ''Non-viable'', because it involved the Ares I and Ares V rockets, the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle capsule and the Altair lander, all named after Constellations. However the program was canceled by the Augustine Committee appointed by US President Barrack Obama. The committee decided to cancel the Constellation Program due it being "non-viable".

But there is 1 more reason.

Two days after NASA launched a test model of its Ares 1 rocket, the flight's mission manager confirmed the first stage descended to the Atlantic Ocean on just one fully functioning parachute, damaging the booster as it splashed into the Atlantic Ocean harder than expected.

So, is Artemis 1 mission the same?
Yes, the Artemis mission is the same as the canceled Constellation program.
It's clear that Artemis 1 is apollo for our generation, but the money NASA spend is so much and is a big waste.

The money could had been used on something many times better, even though Artemis is an exciting
mission, it's basically a mission that was supposed to be done years ago.

How come is the SLS outdated?
The SLS is very outdated, its 2 solid rocket boosters are from the space shuttle.
On the space shuttle the boosters would be parachuted so that they could be reused, but on the SLS
The boosters are not reusable, even though they are using the same boosters.

When living in a time that rockets can land by itself to be reused, so why is NASA spending money on a rocket that is completely unusable?

The answer is Politics.
